Getting Gum Up From Your Home Carpets

One of the worst, and most common, home accidents that happen on carpeting is gum getting dropped and stuck in the fibers. Talk about a real mess. Unfortunately, when this happens, your Bissell 9400 carpet cleaner isn’t going to be of much help on it. But the good news is that getting it up can be accomplished.

The method my grandmother taught me many years ago was to use an ice cube from your freezer. Take it and place it right over the gum on your carpet. Once it begins to freeze you will be able to scrape it off safely. All of it should come up rather easily at that stage.

The key to the process is to be sure and let the gum freeze thoroughly before attempting to get it up. If you do it too quick you run the risk of making an even bigger mess and that is not your goal here.
